Combining wood-and-brick construction with frontier tradesman form, this small storefront is typical of the types of commercial buildings that went up all along the west coast at the turn of the 20th century.

The original use of this building has been lost to history, but by the 1930's it was serving as a machine shop, with a large opening in front for equipment, deliveries, and work space, with offices kept upstairs. The top of the building has a horizontally-stepped decorative cornice interrupted by regularly spaced supports, which adds to the notion that the designer had a Wild West motif in mind.
